Circumcision

A circumcision is a minor surgical procedure that removes the foreskin (the loose tissue) covering the glans (rounded tip) of the penis. Today, circumcision is done for various health reasons:

  • Circumcision may reduce the risk of developing a urinary tract infection (UTI), such as a bladder infection.
  • Circumcision may reduce the risk of contracting some types of sexually transmitted infections, such as HIVand genital herpes.
  • Circumcision may reduce the risk of female partners developing some types of sexually transmitted infections, such as bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis.
  • Circumcision may reduce the risk of developing cancer of the penis.
  • Circumcision reduces sensitivity and is therefore an advantage for men who experience Premature Ejaculation.
